One of three deadline day signings for Sunderland, Callum McManaman, has stated to the official site that he wants to bring the excitement back to the Stadium of Light and to get fans off their seats this season.
The 26-year-old, who joined from West Brom to become Sunderland’s tenth summer signing, said:
“I love getting at players and beating my man. I love getting the fans off their seats so that’s what I want to be doing that as well as getting stuck in.”
The pacey winger fell out of favour at West Brom last season and was relegated to the u21 squad before a January loan move to Sheffield Wednesday.
Even during his loan move McManaman only made 11 appearances in the league for the Owls with just two of those coming as a part of the starting eleven.
McManaman signed a two-year deal at the Stadium of Light.
Excitement is definitely something that has been missing for Sunderland for the past few years and players like Callum McManaman have the ability to bring it back.
He is quick, skilful and, as he said, likes to take a man on and play entertaining football.
If he can bring some entertainment back to the Black Cats then it can only mean positive things for the club and their fans.
