New striker in? Interest in Paterson? Sheffield Wednesday transfer scenarios that could materialise in the January window

Sheffield Wednesday have failed to live up to the expectations placed upon them in pre-season.

Many expected the Owls to be right up there in terms of automatic promotion, following their relegation from the Championship.

Wednesday currently sit 12th in League One having yielded only four wins from 10 games this season, losing three times.

Darren Moore’s side have won only one of their last six games, and these next couple of months will be important for the club.

What year were Sheffield Wednesday founded?

Moore is already likely to have one eye on the January transfer window, where he will look to strengthen his squad and reshape it.

Here, we take a look at a few transfer scenarios we could see materialise at Hillsborough in the January transfer window…

Interest in Callum Paterson?

Callum Paterson is starting to find his feet in front of goal with two goals in his last two games.

The Scotland international has started in the number 10 role, netting against Wigan Athletic then in the defeat to Oxford United.

If he keeps up this form heading into January, then he is very likely to attract interest given his calibre and pedigree.

New striker to come in?

Soccer Football – Championship – West Bromwich Albion v Stoke City – The Hawthorns, West Bromwich, Britain – January 20, 2020 Stoke City’s Lee Gregory reacts Action Images/Andrew Boyers EDITORIAL USE ONLY. Whilst Wednesday may have brought in Florian Kamberi, Lee Gregory and Saido Berahino over the course of the summer, a new striker could well come in.

The January window is usually the time where clubs make that extra improvement and bring in a player who can make that difference.

Gregory is Wednesday’s joint-leading goalscorer with two to his name, which isn’t good enough if the Owls want to be challenging for promotion.

This is something they may need to address.
