Preston North End will look to end their poor run of recent form on Saturday, when they make the short trip to Ewood Park to face local rivals Blackburn Rovers.

Alex Neil's side have picked up just two points from their last four league games, and also suffered defeat to Norwich City in the third round of the FA Cup last weekend, so they will be looking to kick start their bid for a play-off push again on Saturday.

Interestingly, Blackburn also go into this one with just two points from their last four games, and having tasted defeat in the FA Cup last week - this time at Birmingham - meaning Tony Mowbray's side will also be keen to get back to winning ways on their own patch this weekend, meaning this ought to be a tough task for North End.

Here, we've taken a look at the Preston starting lineup that Neil could name to try and ensure it is his side who claim the bragging rights, and three points, in the derby on Saturday.

Having named a much-changed side for that 4-2 cup defeat to Norwich, we imagine it will be a more familiar lineup that Neil names for Preston at Ewood Park.

After dropping to the bench for the clash with the Canaries, Declan Rudd should reclaim the number one spot in the league, following Connor Ripley's far from convincing display against the Premier League side.

In defence, Patrick Bauer is expected to be back to full fitness, so Neil should be able to name his first-choice back four, with the German partnering Ben Davies in the centre of the backline, with Darnell Fisher and Andrew Hughes taking up their roles on the right and left of the North End defence respectively.

The holding midfield roles could see Paul Gallagher come up against the club where he first started his career, should he partner Ben Pearson in those positions.

That would allow Alan Browne to once again push further forward, although top scorer Daniel Johnson is progressing towards a return from injury.

In the wing positions, Scott Sinclair is in line to make his debut following his move from Celtic earlier this week, while Tom Barkhuizen, who scored twice as Preston came from 2-0 down to win 3-2 when these sides met at Deepdale earlier in the season should also feature.

Upfront, Jayden Stockley - whose introduction from the bench after just half of an hour of the last meeting between the two turned the game in Preston's favour - will surely be given the nod from the start on Saturday, in the hope that he can once again cause plenty of problems for Blackburn's defence.
