New Hull City signing Eric Lichaj has delivered a message to Hull City fans via his Instagram account.

In the short video clip, the former Nottingham Forest defender introduces himself, explaining he's an American but asking for it not to be held against him.

He then goes on to say he's looking forward to wearing the Hull shirt and excited to be playing for the club. Afterwards, he commented on the video, stating; "Interviewing skills not the best but a little message for all the @hullcity supporters. Very excited and can’t wait to get going!"

Versatile defender Lichaj joined the Tigers after being told he was surplus to requirements at the City Ground. He spent five years at Forest, making 188 appearances scoring six times.

Aitor Karanka seemingly had no plans to make Lichaj a part of his revolution in the East Midlands, a red card in March against Burton all but ended his five-year association with the club. He made two end of season appearances but they weren't enough to force his way back into the manager's plans.

The 29-year old came through the youth ranks at Aston Villa, enjoying loan spells with Lincoln City and Leeds before joining Forest. He's played for his country 15 times, the most recent of those coming against El Salvador in the CONCACAF Cup last season.

The Verdict

Lichaj is a great signing for Hull and it is nice to see players using all forms of social media to communicate with fans.

At 29 he still has plenty to offer and the move may well come back to haunt Aitor Karanka, if Lichaj establishes himself under Nigel Adkins.
