Antoine Semenyo has spoken of his frustration at having his loan move to Sunderland delayed.

The 20-year-old completed a short-term switch to the Stadium Of Light after failing to break into the first team fold on a regular basis with Bristol City.

However that switch hit a stumbling block with the Robins waiting to sign a replacement striker - a search which went on until the end of the window.

Thankfully, they did manage to sign Nahki Wells which freed Semenyo up to move to Wearside - a switch which he says that he's relishing.

Speaking to Sunderland's official website, Semenyo said: "I always thought that I was coming here but there was a slight delay, which was frustrating.
“I spoke to Bailey Wright, he gave me a little insight into how it is here.
“He just said that it was fantastic and that I would really enjoy it.
“It all came good in the end." He added: "I'm loving it here already.
“Obviously I played a bit on Saturday, the fans were crazy and even though the result was poor, it was fantastic and I'm buzzing.
“As a young player you just want to play, so when you’re not it’s frustrating and when you get a chance like I have here, you just want to take it.”

How much do you know about Sunderland's January transfer additions?

The verdict Antoine Semenyo could be a great addition for Sunderland. Having already burst onto the scene with Bristol City, the hope is that the 20-year-old will have plenty to offer after moving to the Stadium Of Light. He can play anywhere across the front three  - something that could be a massive plus for Phil Parkinson's side as they look to secure promotion. If the young forward can make an impression this term then it will truly justify his status as one of the hottest prospects in the EFL.
