Sheffield United's new signing Marvin Johnson has praised Chris Wilder for showing confidence in him after concluding a deal to move to Bramall Lane at the end of the summer window.

Speaking to the Sheffield Star, Johnson made note of Wilder's desire to bring him to the club, and praised the Blades boss for sticking to his guns right until the last minute.

"For him to wait right until the last minute was a big show of confidence in me. If you're just a transfer target, managers have multiple ones and move on. You're just a number. When a gaffer is prepared to wait, it means a lot more because you know it's you he wants and no one else." said Johnson.

The former Oxford United man will be hoping to make his debut for the Blades today when they travel to Bristol City, a club who are also hoping to join the hunt for a playoff spot come the end of the season.

Johnson was signed for United from Middlesbrough as competition and cover for Irish international Enda Stevens.

The Blades have made an impressive start to the season overall, winning their last four games to find themselves sitting in third place in the Championship.

Blades fans, what type of signing do you think Johnson will be? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
