Mark Bowen's Reading were held to a draw at the weekend, as the Royals shared the points with Hull City at the Madejski with the scores level at 1-1.

An emotional goal for Jordan Obita in the 56th minute was eventually cancelled out by Hull's Mallik Wilks with eight minutes left to play, as both sides picked up what could prove to be a valuable point.

One player who made his debut during the game was 23-year-old defensive midfielder Felipe Araruna, who arrived at the Berkshire club in January from Sao Paulo on a permanent deal.

QUIZ: Are these 15 ex-Reading players still playing - yes or no?

Araruna featured for just over 60 minutes last Saturday, coming on for the injured Chris Gunter in the 27th minute of the contest at right-wing-back.

The player looked comfortable in his first Championship outing, having previously only played in his home country. Here is what the 23-year-old had to say on Twitter after experiencing the Madejski Stadium for the first time:

The 23-year-old can operate as a holding midfielder, and is also available to fill in at right-back, adding some different options to the Reading squad.

He put on an accomplished display for the Royals. According to WyScout, Araruna completed 90% of his passes, won all 6 of his duels and also made a total of 7 interceptions during the ninety minutes. Those are good numbers by anybody's standards.

The Verdict

It is a very good start in a Reading shirt for Araruna, who may be a regular feature of the back four in the coming weeks due to Chris Gunter's injury against Hull City.

Reading fans will be looking to see how the 23-year-old Brazilian progresses at the club, with the the next game for the Royals on Wednesday evening against table-topping West Bromwich Albion.
