Recent Nottingham Forest signing Michael Dawson has stated how impressed he is to see the club continue to use their academy and hopes to help them develop even more during next season.
The commanding central defender recently penned a two-year deal at the City Ground after his departure from Hull City and being an academy graduate himself it is an aspect of the football club that still delights the 34-year-old.
Dawson’s experience could be crucial in developing Forest’s relatively young squad next season and his immediate aim is to assist the club in reaching the Premier League.
In an interview with the Nottingham Post, Dawson spoke of his delight at seeing the club’s academy continue to flourish.
He said: “It’s great to see young players still coming through the academy at this football club. Forest gave me a chance to go and play and do everything I have done in my career.
“It’s great for those current young players, they will naturally want to be successful too.
“I always say to play in the Premier League is the best thing in the world, and that’s what those young lads want to be doing.
“With help from myself, other senior players already here, it’s something we all want to do. We want to be successful.”
Dawson pulls no punches when he speaks of his desire to reach the Premier League with Forest and given the career he has had, why should he?
Forest will go in to next season looking to challenge at the top end of the table and Dawson is right when he says that everyone wants to be challenging for silverware and reaching the Premier League.
With someone boasting experience that Dawson does, it looks as though Forest finally have the leader that has sadly been lacking for some years now.
