The 29-year-old striker grew up in Nottingham and is overjoyed at the prospect of playing for the Nottingham Forest first-team, especially after playing for the club as a boy.

And after being a squad player at Brighton so far this season, the striker is happy to have signed for the Reds as he looks for the confidence he needs to excel as a player.

The striker has struggled at Brighton and is not hesitant to admit that he didn't always enjoy his time at the seaside club. But in familiar surroundings, with his family by his side, he is hoping to thrive at the City Ground and to make the fans enjoy his contributions.

Speaking to the Nottingham Post, the striker said that when he is happy, he plays well and in doing so, justified his poor form at Brighton and Hove Albion.

He said: "The bottom line is that I want to get back to enjoying playing football. That is what I was doing at Barnsley and that is why I did so well there," he said. "When you enjoy your football you play well.

"That is also why I did not do so well at Brighton, because I wasn't always enjoying it.

"But if I am happy, I do well, historically, through my career."

O'Grady thrived at Oakwell, scoring 15 goals in a season that saw the Yorkshire side relegated to League One. Finding the net consistently in a struggling side is an accolade that O'Grady wants to enforce as he attempts to persuade Forest fans that he can do well for the club.

The forward has signed for Forest on a season-long loan and will be hoping to impress the Forest faithful during his time at the City Ground.

And while he failed to impress at Brighton, he believes that the happiness he finds at Forest can help him deliver.

When asked about whether he can start scoring goals again, he added: "It has not been that long since I was scoring regularly in the Championship, so I can get back to that, yes. There is no reason why I cannot do that for Forest. I am as strong as I have been; I feel as fit as I have done ever before.

"It would be interesting to see how different it might be playing amid a stronger squad at a club like Forest.

"There is a history to the club but, more than that, there is a quality in the current squad."

Chris O'Grady is a striker who has had a hard time finding the net recently, but with him enjoying his football again and playing with a smile on his face, he will be hoping to deliver the goods when Forest need it.

Forest currently sit in 16th place in the Sky Bet Championship after a slow start to their 2015/16 campaign, which has seen them win once, draw twice and lose twice.
