New Nottingham Forest signing Yuri Ribeiro has revealed his excitement ahead of the new season after signing on loan fron Benfica.

The left-back made the move alongside central midfielder Alfa Semedo and says that his transfer to the City Ground has helped him achieve a dream.

Writing on Twitter on Monday evening, the 22-year-old said: "I’m very happy and confident with this new step on my career. I have always dreamed of playing in England, with so much history in football and with such good fans - this gives me a lot of motivation. The work starts today, come on you reds."

Ribeiro has graduated through the youth system with the Portuguese giants and, after spending the 2017/18 season out on loan with Rio Ave, broke into the first team at the start of the previous campaign.

However, he failed to make an appearance in the league and was limited to four run-outs in all competitions - two in the Europa League and two in the Portuguese cup.

His signing, along with Semedo's, took Forest's summer recruitment tally to four following the previous arrivals of Sammy Ameobi and Tiago Silva.

Goalkeeper Arijanet Muric has since taken the total to five as Sabri Lamouchi looks to turn the club into serious promotion contenders.

The verdict

He will have no trouble adapting to life in England if this is a true reflection on his confidence levels and grasp of English already.

Last season saw Diogo Goncalves and Gil Dias flop during their loan spells as they failed to acclimatise to their new surroundings.

Forest as a club must ensure that more is done this time around to ensure the likes of Silva, Semedo and Ribeiro are able to settle as soon as possible.

If they can do that and really get the best out of their new arrivals then there will be a lot of healthy competition at Lamouchi's disposal.
