The Potters were disappointing in the Premier League last season, suffering relegation back into the second-tier, where they are looking to rebuild under the management of Gary Rowett.

The ex-Birmingham City and Derby County boss has built up a solid reputation in the Championship over recent seasons, although he is yet to deliver a promotion to the Premier League.

At Stoke, he has been given all the resources to earn promotion back to the top-flight, with Stoke’s squad looking in incredible shape ahead of the 2018/19 campaign.

Sunday will give us a first proper look at Rowett’s side, who will head to Elland Road looking to get an early three points on the board.

Here at FLW, we take a look at the starting XI Rowett must turn to in Leeds…

Butland is still on the books at Stoke, with the England international not completing a move back to the Premier League.

Whilst he’s still around, he will be No.1.

Bauer put in some good performances in the Premier League last season despite Stoke’s struggles and you can see him having a key role to play this season.

Shawcross is going to be huge for Stoke this season, and at Elland Road on Sunday, he will be looking to bully Leeds’ attack.

Alongside Shawcross, Martins Indi is a great option.

Together, these two will be central to whatever success Stoke have this season.

Rowett could well go with experience this weekend at Elland Road, which will see Pieters edge out Tom Edwards.

Fletcher has stepped down into the Championship with Stoke and he could be someone who is also key.

The experienced midfielder should get the nod ahead of the back four.

Keeping Allen on board was a major coup for Stoke.

The midfielder has so much ability, and back in the Championship, he is a player to watch.

The 22-year-old could turn out to be one of the summer’s best signings.

Etebo will be desperate to hit the ground running and show what he’s all about at Elland Road.

Ince knows the Championship so well and he will be looking to have a huge impact against Leeds.

The attacking talent was a key addition to Rowett’s squad over the summer.

Afobe has to be Stoke’s main man this season.

He’s another new recruit, who should be in the starting XI on Sunday ahead of Saido Berahino.

McClean completes a new-look attack for Stoke.

The Irishman has played at a good level throughout his career, and his signing was a big coup for Stoke.

His aggression and speed will complement Afobe and Ince.
