The first signing of the Marcelo Bielsa era at Leeds United was announced this morning, with Chelsea's Lewis Baker joining the Whites on a season-long loan.

Baker, who has represented England at various youth levels, is a creative midfielder and will bring quality on the ball to the side, exactly what Bielsa demands.

The 23-year old has spent the past few years away from Stamford Bridge, excelling in Holland over two season with Vitesse Arnhem.

However, he struggled to make an impact at Middlesbrough last season, with Tony Pulis not picking the player after he took over at the Riverside.

Yet, he is confident of making a positive impression at Elland Road next season and sent out a tweet to his new fans hours after the deal was confirmed.

He thanked the many fans who had sent him messages since joining and revealed just how excited he was to be playing for Leeds next season.

Bielsa is expected to make several more additions in the coming weeks as he looks to add to his squad.

The Verdict

The Chelsea midfielder is extremely talented, can pass with both feet and could be a key player in Bielsa's side who will look to control possession.

After a disappointing loan with Boro, that wasn't really his fault, Baker will be desperate to prove himself in England.

He has got a lot of backing from the fans who are excited to see him play and it's an exciting time for Leeds.
