‘New Jaap Stam’ – 8 things fans are saying about Hull City’s latest signing

Hull City have signed defender Jordy de Wijs from PSV Eindhoven.

de Wijs joins for an undisclosed fee and puts pen to paper on a three-year deal with the Tigers, keeping him at the KCOM Stadium until the summer of 2021.

The physical defender follows fellow centre-back Reece Burke to the club, just a day after Hull confirmed that they had signed the West Ham United man.

de Wijs played a few first-team games for PSV but most of his senior game time has come during a loan spell at Eredivisie side Excelsior Rotterdam, where he played 34 times.

The 23-year-old also represented Netherlands at under-21 level, despite being born in Belgium.

The Dutchman is Hull’s fourth summer signing following the arrivals of Burke, David Milinkovic and Eric Lichaj.

Some fans are seeing him as a replacement for Michael Dawson, who joined Nottingham Forest earlier this summer.

Here are how some fans reacted on Twitter to the arrival of de Wijs.
