David Wagner was Jurgen Klopp’s former number two at Borussia Dortmund and was also the reserve team coach at the German club.

Wagner wants to put his stamp on the Yorkshire club , similar to the philosophy similiar to what he played at Dortmund.

He said to Talksport: “We’d like to bring some German influence to English culture,”

“Their game was very good and this is what I like to do. I prefer passion in the game, I like speed. I like my teams to score goals.

“Everybody knows the ‘full-throttle’ football that we try to create. This is what I like to do”.

Wagner was a suprise choice for the Terriers after Chris Powell was sacked last week – the club obviously want to go in a new direction and Chairman Dean Hoyle seemingly feels Wagner is the right person.

The appointment of Wagner seems a risk but, but the Chairman wants the club to move forward and he feels this is the right move to take the Terriers to the next level.

The Terriers sit 19th in the Sky Bet Championship after a 3-0 defeat to Leeds United at the weekend.

Huddersfield face a tricky encounter with Carlos Carvalhal’s Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough after the international break, in a match which Wagner will be keent o get his first victory in charge.
