Birmingham City once again left it late to confirm their survival in the Championship but they stayed afloat in some style.

On the final day of the season, Birmingham were favourites to avoid the drop but they went above and beyond to beat third place Fulham 3-1 at St Andrew's and confirm their place in next season's Championship campaign.

Having been tasked with keeping the Blues up and succeeding, Garry Monk will now be turning his attention on how to improve his current squad options and get his side climbing up the league table.

Rather than competing to stay up next season, Monk will want to have his side pushing for the play-offs.

To do so, he will need to have a positive summer in the transfer window.

Birmingham have been linked with numerous players already and here are three potential new arrivals who could be at the club by the start of pre-season.

Birmingham need a new striker, especially with Sam Gallagher's loan coming to an end.

The Blues have been linked with Barnsley striker Tom Bradshaw but they face widespread competition to land the Wales international.

Barnsley are surely going to lose the 25-year-old after going down and Birmingham could take a punt on the 12-goal striker to solve their problems up top.

The Blues have also been linked with Ogenyi Onazi after targeting the midfielder in the past.

The 25-year-old central midfielder was refused a work permit last summer but given that he is likely to feature in the World Cup, Birmingham could get their man ahead of next season.

The Nigerian international is likely to cost €3m.

Birmingham's attacking midfielders Jota, Che Adams and Jacques Maghoma are all very good but they could use another creative spark in that department.

Wes Hoolahan has emerged as a target, according to The Irish Sun, after leaving Norwich at the end of the 2017/18 season.

On a free transfer and a one-year deal, the 35-year-old nicknamed the "Irish Messi" could prove to be a very shrewd signing.
