Hull City have completed their shortlist of potential managers, and are set to begin interviewing candidates next week, The Hull Daily Mail have reported.

The Tigers have been searching for a manager since last week, when Nigel Adkins revealed that he would not be signing a new contract at the KCOM Stadium, following the expiration of his current deal in the summer.

It now seems that Hull are moving to find Adkins' replacement, with a list of candidates said to be in place and scheduled for interviews at the club next week.

There have been a number of names linked with a move to the KCOM Stadium dugout, with The Hull Daily Mail reporting that Lincoln manager Danny Cowley is among the frontrunners for the job, while HITC have linked Rotherham boss Paul Warne with the role, with The Scottish Sun claiming that Hibernian boss Paul Heckingbottom is also among the contenders.

With Hull chairman and owner Assem Allam currently suffering from ill health, it is his son, the club's vice president Ehab Allam who will be leading the search for a new manager, having previously overseen the appointment of Mike Phelan; Marco Silva, Leonid Slutsky and Adkins himself, The Hull Daily Mail have reported.

The verdict

This will be welcome news for Hull fans.

With the transfer window in progress and pre season not far away, Hull need to get a manager in place as soon as possible in order to start preparations for next season.

Even so, with speculation around a number of the club's key players, it is important that they come to the right decision rather than a fast one, as they need to give themselves the best possible chance to avoid slipping back into a relegation battle again next season.
