Brighton and Hove Albion’s latest signing, Vegard Forren, insists he is ready for first-team action this Friday, when the Seagulls host Derby County, reports the Argus.
Forren joined Brighton this week as a free agent, providing Chris Hughton with cover in central defence following the recent injury to Shane Duffy and Conor Goldson’s long-term absence.
Despite only arriving at the Amex Stadium on Tuesday, the 29-year old insists he is ready for action this weekend, when Hughton’s side entertain Derby, he told the Argus: “I can’t wait. Hopefully I can join in.
“I am in good shape to do a good job so a game on Friday would be perfect.
“I can’t wait to go and train with the guys for the game and hopefully I can be part of the team.”
The Norwegian international said he has seen Brighton play this season, most recently in their defeat to Newcastle United, he continued: “In Norway they show Championship games every week and I am sorry to say that the last one I watched was the Newcastle one, but I see it’s a good team and hopefully I can join in and make an impact.”
Hughton’s side returned to winning ways on Tuesday evening when they defeated Rotherham United 2-0.
The result looks to have put the Seagulls’ season back on track, following back-to-back defeats against Newcastle and Nottingham Forest last week.
Brighton host Derby on Friday night, knowing victory will see them move level on points with Newcastle at the top of the Sky Bet Championship table, with the Magpies not featuring until Saturday afternoon.
