New Birmingham City signing Dan Crowley has revealed his emotions following confirmation of his move to the Championship side.

Earlier on Thursday, Birmingham announced the signing of the midfielder from Dutch top-flight side Willem II on a two year deal for an undisclosed fee.

Following confirmation of Crowley's arrival, the club gave the 21-year-old the opportunity to introduce himself to his new supporters for the first time.

In a brief posted on the Blues official Twitter account, Crowley declares that he is 'buzzing' to be at the club, adding that he can't wait to get started before signing off with the Birmingham moniker of 'Keep Right On'.

Having originally started out in the youth system of Birmingham's local rivals Aston Villa, Crowley moved to Arsenal in 2014 but missed out on the chance to make a senior appearance for the Gunners.

The midfielder did however spend time out on loan in the Football League with Barnsley and Oxford, prior to his move to Holland - initially on loan - in December 2016.

The Verdict

This will be a welcome sight for Birmingham.

The Blues have struggled to really get going in the summer transfer window so far, which probably hasn't been helped by the managerial change at the club, so the sight of a new recruit should go down well with the club's fans.

Crowley's pedigree from his youth days and experience in the top flight in Holland certainly seems to suggest that he has the potential to perform at the Championship level, while his role as a midfielder will be useful given the club are somewhat short in that position.

Given that at 21-years-old Crowley still has time to develop his game further, and his relative lack of experience in the Championship, it will be interesting to see just how regular a feature he is for Birmingham next season.
