Bradley Collins has sent a message to Barnsley fans on social media, after the highly-rated goalkeeper completed his move to Oakwell.

The 22-year-old has signed a four-year contract at Oakwell following his release from Chelsea, with the option to extend his stay for a further year.

The highly-rated shot-stopper came through the academy at Chelsea and has spent the past two seasons on loan in the EFL.

After completing his move to Oakwell, the goalkeeper posted an update on social media, saying that he is delighted to sign for Barnsley and is looking forward to the challenge of playing for the club.

Collins spent last season on loan at Burton Albion in League One, where he conceded 32 goals in 31 league appearances and kept eleven clean sheets, including one against Barnsley at Oakwell.

He spent the previous campaign on loan at Forest Green Rovers and was able to keep nine clean sheets in all competitions, helping the team to avoid relegation from League Two.

The goalkeeper did not make a senior appearance for Chelsea but was part of their academy side who won the FA Youth Cup and the UEFA Youth League in 2014-15.

The Verdict

This is very good signing for Barnsley and a good replacement for Adam Davies, who looks set to leave the club this summer.

Collins obviously impressed Daniel Stendel with his performance against the Tykes for Burton last season and he is clearly a talented goalkeeper with a lot of potential.

The goalkeeper already has a decent amount of experience in the EFL and could be ready to make the step up to the Championship.

He is still only 22 and has plenty of time to improve, so it was a smart move for Barnsley to sign him on a long-term contract, as he could develop into one of the best goalkeepers in the EFL over the next few seasons.

Collins will know that he was highly unlikely to get a proper chance at Chelsea and it is a sensible decision for him to leave Stamford Bridge and pursue a new challenge.
