Aston Villa manager Roberto Di Matteo has reportedly made West Brom goalkeeper Boaz Myhill one of his main transfer targets for this summer, according to the Express and Star.
Myhill initially came through Villa’s youth academy, spending time on loan at various lower league clubs before making the permanent switch to Hull in 2003, making 257 appearances before joining the Baggies in 2010.
The Welsh shot stopper made 23 league appearances last season deputising for the injured Ben Foster, and received plaudits from his goalkeeping rival for his performances.
Di Matteo was the manager who brought Myhill to the Hawthorns in 2010, and it would not be a huge surprise to see him at Villa Park next season given Villa’s goalkeeping struggles last season.
The move would be Villa’s first of a summer transfer window where they are expected to make radical changes to their playing staff in preparation for their first season in the second tier of English football since 1987.
What do you make of this news Villa fans? Would Myhill be a good addition to a team chasing promotion? Post your thoughts and opinions below.
