‘Never sell this man’, ‘Worth every penny’ – Many Sheffield Wednesday fans react to one player’s display in Celtic clash

Sheffield Wednesday forward Josh Windass found the net in the 3-1 pre-season defeat to Celtic yesterday, which has been well received by fans of the Yorkshire club.

The Owls’ preparations for life in League One have not been easy so far with off-field issues, such as players not being paid and a transfer embargo, limiting Darren Moore.

However, they ramped things up yesterday with the start of the pre-season schedule as they faced Celtic in a behind-closed-doors game in Wales.

The Bhoys ran out 3-1 winners but it was Wednesday that took the lead through Windass, who converted Liam Palmer’s cross from inside the box.

Goals from Albian Ajeti, Owen Moffat, and Odsonne Edouard gave Celtic the win but the result doesn’t hold a huge amount of importance in pre-season and Windass’ strong start is a major positive for the Yorkshire club, particularly with rumours circling about his future this summer.

Birmingham City, Millwall, Stoke City, Fulham, and, West Bromwich Albion have all been linked with the 27-year-old but he remains a Wednesday player – with some reports suggesting they value him at £5 million.
