Nottingham Forest have announced the signing of 30-year-old midfielder Samba Sow, which has drawn a mixed reaction from Reds fans.

Sow has signed a two-year deal with the Championship club after joining from Dynamo Moscow for an undisclosed fee.

According to Nottinghamshire Live prior to his signing, the tough-tackling, physical midfielder is reported to have cost Forest €700,000 (around £640,000).

The Mali international reportedly struggled to settle at the Russian club and has struggled to make a consistent impact, featuring just 43 times since arriving in Moscow.

The six-foot-two defensive midfielder began his career at French side RC Lens before spells at Turkish sides Kardemir Karabukspor and Kayserispor.

Sow, who has made 42 appearances for his home nation Mali, is the Reds' eighth signing of the transfer window.

It has been a busy summer for Forest following the arrival of new boss Sabri Lamouchi.

Lamouchi was appointed at the end of June after the departure of Martin O’Neill and has been active in the transfer market, with the club having now brought in five players on permanent deals and three on loan.
