Sheffield Wednesday manager Steve Bruce will be relishing the summer transfer window, as it will give him a real opportunity to stamp his own mark on his Hillsborough squad.

Bruce though will be concerned that the club's efforts to tie-down free agent Keiren Westwood may be falling short, with the keeper not happy with the length of contract on offer, according to the print edition of The Sun (May 12, page 59).

Westwood, 34, is keen to stay at Hillsborough, but wants a two-year deal and with the club only offering a one-year deal, the door is ajar for the Republic of Ireland international to move on.

So should the Owls be looking to give Westwood the two year deal that he wants?

We discuss........

Toby Wilding

"I think they should give him it.

"Westwood has hardly looked back since regaining his starting spot and that seems unlikely to change any time soon should he stay at Hillsborough given the quality of his performances.

"Even he isn't number one in the second year of the deal, he would still be a capable understudy and valuable source of insight around the club."

“No.

“Never be held to ransom by a player.

“There’s going to be a hundred keepers out there this summer available at the right price.

“Wednesday should go hunting a younger, more promising player.”

George Brooks

"Absolutely.

"Westwood is an excellent goalkeeper and has been outstanding for Sheffield Wednesday this season since his return to the side.

"He is one of the best goalkeepers in the Championship and Steve Bruce should do everything in his power to keep him at the club.

"He seems quite happy at Hillsborough too, so the club should take advantage of this and get him to sign a new contract.

"If it means offering him a two-year deal, then it’s absolutely what they should do."
