Warnock feels QPR is a special club

Neil Warnock returned to the club in a 'first team advisory' role last month, where he would work under Les Ferdinand, the director of Football.

Although this role was short-lived as just two days ago, Warnock was named as interim manager following the sacking of Chris Ramsey.

In an interview with QPR PlayerHD, he admitted his love for the club, he said: “I am going to do my best. This is a club that is special to my heart. When I got a chance to come back and help I was really pleased.

“The situation is that I can steady the ship until the club appoint whoever they decide to. This gives them more time to make sure they get the right one."

Warnock who had worked with Ramsey for a short space of time expressed his disappointment for him.

“I’m disappointed for Chris. I spoke with him the other night and he wished me all the best.

“Some people have told me this squad is better than the one we had when we got promoted. Technically it is very good but in the Championship sometimes you need more than that – you need more desire at times and more passion at times.

“I am looking forward to seeing if the lads can come up with that little bit more.

“Everybody is going to have to be on their toes and we are going to have to be better than what we’ve been.”

Despite only being appointed two days ago Warnock has already decided his team, he added: “I know my team now - I have spent quite a bit of time thinking about it.”

Next up for QPR is a home game against Preston North End, who come into the game on the back of five consecutive clean sheets.

A win for Warnock's men can see them rise to 9th place, whereas a win for Preston can see them leapfrog QPR into 13th place.
