Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock has revealed that he would be open to taking Glenn Murray back in January, after loaning him out to Reading.

Murray is currently on loan at Reading

The striker's loan deal ends this January, after the Royals signed him on loan on deadline day during the summer. The two clubs agreed an initial fee, but ran out of time to seal a permanent move for the 31-year-old.

Murray played a major role in Palace's promotion campaign in 2012/2013, but injury stopped him from appearing too much in their first season back in the Premier League, making 14 appearances, with one goal.

Warnock told the Croydon Advertiser: "Glenn's loan ends on January 1 - I don't know all the ins and outs yet, but I've asked to have a look at him myself.

"The thing is, I think both clubs have agreed a fee if they decide to take him but not only have they got to come up with that fee, the player has got to agree it as well. "

I don't think it's straightforward. Put it this way, I'm in no rush for him to go. I would be playing him on Saturday at Manchester City if he was back at Palace."

Nicky Hammond, Director of Football at Reading, has said that there are funds available for the Royals to sign Glenn Murray during January, but after sacking Nigel Adkins, fans are wondering whether those funds have now been used to pay Adkins off, and with the club running close to Financial Fair Play, spending is limited at the Madejeski Stadium.

Fans differ in opinions on Murray, who has scored six for the Royals this season. Some say the striker has not scored enough for the club, and that the funds should be used to sign a better striker, whilst others say that he's the best the club can do.

Reading are currently 16th in the Championship, and have hired manager Steve Clarke this week, after sacking Nigel Adkins.
