Neil Warnock praised the character of his Cardiff City players after they fought back to earn a late draw at Sheffield United last night, which the manager described as the 'best point of the season'.

The Bluebirds seriously struggled after going 1-0 down to Leon Clarke's deflected goal with Chris Wilder's men playing some superb football.

However, the Blades failed to score the killer second with Clayton Donaldson guilty of missing a clear chance. And, they were made to pay with Anthony Pilkington equalising in stoppage time.

It prompted wild scenes in the away end and Warnock revealed just how much it meant to the players.

"In our dressing room it was like we had won the World Cup. The (equalising) goal is fantastic for team spirit," he told the BBC.

The experienced boss was also delighted with the resilience and determination his team displayed.

"We always know if we can hang in games we can score. It's great to know with seven games to go that we have got that in our locker. But under the circumstances, I feel like that could be the best point of the season."

The Verdict

Cardiff proved once again last night that they have real fighting spirit and managed to get a valuable point from a game they should've lost.

Therefore, it's easy to see why Warnock is delighted with his players as he knows the importance of that point.

However, he will know his side have to improve their performance on Friday against Wolves in the top of the table clash.
