What a summer it has been so far for Neil Warnock and his Cardiff City side.

The Bluebirds sit top of the Championship pile, amassing a record-breaking five wins from their opening five encounters, and the mood around the Cardiff City Stadium is the brightest it has been for many years.

Warnock has found a balance in his squad, and the performances of key players are inspiring Cardiff to their best ever start to a new campaign.

Backing up his player’s wonderful play in the dying hours of the summer transfer window was essential if Warnock was to continue his side’s run of form, and the former Sheffield United boss has certainly done that.

The acquisitions of Craig Bryson and Liam Feeney will add depth to his squad ahead of a long promotion run-in, but it is the acquisition of Bryson which stands above the rest.

The 30-year-old midfielder joins on loan following a six-year spell with Derby County, in which the player made over 200 appearances for the East Midlands outfit, scoring 37 goals.

Experience at international level under his belt, Bryson is exactly the type of player this Cardiff City squad needed; someone who will calm things down and lead by example.

There is a danger in south Wales that this excellent start will go to the heads of some of the younger members of Warnock’s squad, but Bryson has come in to counteract the effects of complacency.

His level-headed play, as well as his all round ability make him one of the signings of the summer for the Bluebirds, and fans can begin to get excited about what lies ahead of them for the season.

Bryson’s playing time at Pride Park was beginning to grow restricted, but moving clubs has come at the right time for all involved, and the Scottish international will play a role in City’s push for promotion.

Cardiff fans, how much of a role can Bryson play in your push for promotion?
