Middlesbrough boss Neil Warnock has revealed to the Hartlepool Mail when he'll be holding talks with the club's out of contract players to inform them of his future plans.

The trio of Marvin Johnson, Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and goalkeeper Jordan Archer are all set to be out of contract at the end of the current campaign and are still yet to hear about what the club has in store for them.

Whilst striking pair Britt Assombalonga and Ashley Fletcher have already been told that their future lies elsewhere by the experienced Boro boss, who is already drawing up his plans for the summer transfer window.

Now, Warnock has offered an insight into when he plans to hold conversations with his current squad as the final league game of the season approaches against Wycombe Wanderers tomorrow:

“I’ll be speaking to all the players on Sunday and Monday.

“Lads that travel away, I tend to speak to on the Sunday so they can get off home.

"Then I’ll be talking to the rest of the lads on Monday, possibly Tuesday morning. I always talk to everybody and tell them what I’m expecting next season, where they’ve done well and what they can do better at. I’ll be talking to everybody that’s on the books.

“If I hadn’t decided things now, I’d be in trouble wouldn’t I? If I wasn’t sure, I’d be struggling. I know what I want, and I’ll be talking to them all next week.

"There’ll be one or two interesting conversations.”

In addition to the aforementioned trio, the likes of loan trio Yannick Bolasie, Neeskens Kebano and Marcus Bettinelli are also set to leave the Riverside this summer as their deals run towards expiry in the North East.

The Verdict

It will be interesting to see which of those three players stays put under Warnock, with the trio having all played their part since joining up with the club.

Johnson is the player that you would most expect to stay put as he has played the most football out of all three under Warnock, whilst there are sure to be question marks over Archer and Mendez-Laing if they stay put as they have hardly played.

There could also be some unexpected departures this summer, with there being a growing feeling that Warnock is growing frustrated with the current crop after the way the season has tailed off.

I expect Boro to be a force at the top end of the table next term and as a result of this, there will be a good few players leaving the club this summer.
