Cardiff City will be looking to close the gap on the top two when they face Brentford this weekend, but they face tough challenge against a Brentford side that Neil Warnock regards as 'the best team in the league at the minute'.

The Bluebirds boss revealed just how much he thought of Brentford and their manager when speaking to the club's media ahead of the game. “I think they're the only team that's got more crosses and shots than us, according to the stats. It shows you what kind of an attacking team they are.”

I like Dean Smith – I think he's a very, very good young manager. They've got a good team spirit really, a bit like us. It will be a tough game, but I think it will be a good game.”

The Bees will be looking to extend a nine-game unbeaten run which includes three successive victories, against a stuttering Cardiff side.

Warnock's men have won just two of their last six games and are now four points behind leaders Wolves despite topping the table for large spells this season.

The Verdict

You can't argue with Warnock's assessment of Brentford over the past five games, they really have turned promising performances into excellent results and it will be a real test for Cardiff.

However the Welsh side will expect to beat anyone at home this season and despite the experienced managers praise of the Bees, he will be demanding three points.

The Bluebirds are the only unbeaten home side in the division and will need to keep that up if they're to continue their pursuit of the top two teams.
