Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock has said there will likely be no transfer dealings over the next fortnight, and that any further additions will rely on current squad members leaving.

The Bluebirds were relegated from the Premier League last season but have been quick to bring in new reinforcements this summer.

Goalkeeper Joe Day and centre-back Curtis Nelson arrived at the Cardiff City Stadium on free transfers, while midfielder Will Vaulks joined from Rotherham in a deal which could rise to more than £3 million.

According to the Cardiff boss, that may be the club's transfer business done this window.

Warnock told Sky Sports: "We have got the three in but I can't see us doing an awful lot until we look at if anyone is leaving.

"In the next two weeks I don't think we will be doing anything.

"When we come back from [our pre-season tour to] America I think we will know by then if there are one or two lads leaving, then we will know better about what we require.

"I've not really got a number in my mind or definite positions because I think a lot depends on if people come in for my players."

On the topic of a new striker, Warnock added: "I think if the right one came along and we could do it then I am sure we would get one.

"It's whether we could get anybody better than what we have at this level that's all that concerns me."

Verdict

Bluebirds fans should not be worried about Warnock's comments.

Cardiff's business up until this point has been shrewd, especially the acquisition of Vaulks who performed well in a disappointing season for the Millers in 2018/19, grabbing seven goals and seven assists in 41 Championship appearances.

The target for Warnock's side will surely be a return to the Premier League and the Bluebirds have the players to compete at the top of the second tier.

There is understandable concern over their striking options, with the side scoring the second fewest goals in the Premier League last season, but they do have players with Championship goals under their belt.

Bobby De Cordova-Reid, in particular, was brilliant last time he played in the division and should be looking to prove himself after failing to make the step up in the top flight.
