After a flying start to the season, Cardiff suffered their first defeat of the season when they fell 3-0 away to Preston North End.

It still can't detract from the fantastic start to the season that Neil Warnock's men have made, as they sit 2nd in the Championship.

They return to action against Sheffield Wednesday at the Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday, a game that Warnock will be even more determined to win given his connections with the other half of Sheffield.

However, he's called on the Bluebirds fans to do their bit too. Speaking to the club's TV channel he said: “They are going to play a big part now, the fans.

The Welsh side boast a 100% record at home so far but face a tough run with Wednesday, Leeds and Derby County all visiting before the month is out.

Warnock recognises the role a passionate crowd could play against sides with bigger resources than his own.

All the three home games, they are all teams who should be way above us. The fans have to get behind us, make it that hostile environment that we want to spur the lads on.

With the way the side have been playing so far this season, you can expect the supporters to deliver on their manager's message.

The Verdict

Neil Warnock deserves huge credit for the work he has done in his time at Cardiff and the fans should go all out to back this team.

Thankfully, the owner is not in the limelight as much as he used to be, which has ensured Warnock can work his magic.

The side are playing high-intensity football and have recorded some terrific results this season. Their home form will be key if they're to maintain this high standard and as Warnock points out, the fans can play a big part in that.
