Despite their impressive win over Leeds on Wednesday, much of the talk surrounding Wolves this week has been concerning off the field issues.

The Yorkshire club, along with Aston Villa and Derby were among the clubs who called on the EFL to investigate the role Jorge Mendes plays at the league leaders.

The super-agent has been responsible for bringing the likes of Diogo Jota, Ruben Neves and even manager Nuno Espirito Santo to Wolves.

That has caused anger from those clubs but Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock today backed the league leaders and revealed he doesn’t care who they sign.

All this talk of advantages – let them sign who they want. It doesn’t bother me if they sign Neymar. I think it’s great, I wish we had all contacts like they have. Let’s not start bitching about them,” he told Inside Wales Sport.

The experienced manager also praised the Wolves support and added that he’s happy for them that the club are doing so well.

Wolves have had it so hard for so long. The Wolves fans are unbelievable and have had to put up with so much over the last 20 years.”

The Verdict

This will surprise a lot of Wolves fans as they haven’t always thought highly of Warnock but they will certainly appreciate the support given how everyone else seems to be eager to condemn them.

He’s also right in what he says as the Black Country side have managed to attract many great players this season and everyone in the division would want them.

Warnock himself has shown that even with a smaller budget you can compete with Wolves, so Leeds and Villa should look at why they can’t despite having more resources than the Welsh side, instead of accusing the leaders of breaking rules.
