Neil Warnock has heaped praise on Slavisa Jokanovic and believes he was the perfect managerial appointment for Sheffield United.
Warnock’s Middlesbrough side host United at the Riverside tomorrow night, with both sides coming into it in contrasting form.
Jokanovic took over at Bramall Lane in the summer, replacing interim boss Paul Heckingbottom at the helm following the Blades’ relegation from the Premier League.
It took time for Jokanovic to pick up results in charge, but United have turned a corner and have won three of their last four games.
Tomorrow night, they travel to Teesside looking to make it three wins on the spin, with Warnock’s side looking to bounce back from a defeat at Reading.
Via the Sheffield Star, former United boss Warnock heaped praise on Jokanovic and said he believes that he was the “ideal appointment” for the Blades in the summer.
He said: “I’ve always liked him. I call him Slav, me, because I can’t say his name. But he’s a good lad and I enjoy conversations with him after a game.
“I’ve got a lot of time for him; he’s a very, very good manager. I thought he was an ideal appointment and I knew he’d turn it around.”
Warnock will know several managers, and it seems that Jokanovic is one he likes in particular.
He is an experienced boss who has won promotion from this level twice before, and United now look to be finding their feet under him.
I suspect they will finish there or thereabouts come the end of the season under him.
