Middlesbrough manager Neil Warnock has suggseted that Boro are close to securing the arrivals of a couple of players as he also commented on speculation surrounding a move for Rotherham United’s Matt Crooks.
Football League World revealed yesterday that Boro were set to win the race for Crooks’ signature this summer following Rotherham United’s relegation from the Championship.
It is believed that the 27-year-old will undergo a medical with the club before the confirmation of his arrival later on in the week.
It had been reported that Ipswich Town were interested in securing a move for the midfielder as well this summer. The Tractor Boys were even reported to have had offers turned down by Rotherham for the 27-year-old. However, recent reports appear to have ruled them out of the race now with Middlesbrough his expected destination.

Speaking to Teesside Live, Warnock suggested that Middlesbrough are close to getting a few things over the line in the transfer market in the next week. While he also commented on Boro’s interest in Crooks as that deal nears completion.
He said: “We’re quite close at the minute to getting a couple over the line this week.
“Crooks is one we’ve been talking about, but there’s a couple more we’ve been talking about too.
“If we can get a couple over the line we’ll be delighted.”
It seems like Middlesbrough are set for a very productive week in the transfer market and it is the sort of news that Boro fans will have been waiting for for a few weeks now.
The potential arrival of Crooks is one for them to be excited about because he will add a lot of quality to their squad in the midfielder area and crucially will bring added goals to the side.
Warnock has clearly been keen to add Crooks to his squad and the 27-year-old would seem to fit in with the profile of player that the Boro boss likes to recruit in the transfer market.
The midfielder is perfect for the kind of qualities that they have been needing to add to their squad and he should prove to be an astute addition if the move gets over the line.
It is going to be interesting to see who the other potential new arrivals will be at the Riverside this week. Boro have had a rather slow start to the window but Warnock is always someone that remains patient and attempts to get the right players into the squad. That approach now seems to be starting to pay off.
