Leeds United look set to face legal action from former manager Neil Redfearn's partner, Lucy Ward, over a twin unfair dismissal and sex discrimination case, according to the Daily Mail.

Ward had worked on the education and welfare side of Leeds United for 17 years, but was suspended on the same day as her partner of six years, Neil Redfearn, as Leeds showed their former manager the door, with the club allegedly believing they came as a a pair.

Ward had taken on extra responsibilities at the Elland Road club following a number of job cuts, and was therefore thought to be held in high regard by club owner Massimo Cellino. However, following his much publicised falling out with then manager Neil Redfearn, Cellino reportedly instructed Leeds executive director Adam Pearson to remove her from the club.

The former Leeds Ladies forward covered the Women's World Cup in Canada this summer as a BBC pundit, and Leeds were allegedly unhappy with the amount of time she spent away from Leeds United's training ground and academy base, Thorp Arch.

Pearson told Ward that she was being dismissed for gross misconduct for taking too much holiday while on BBC duty in Canada, but Ward claims she had received permission from her club line manager Adam Underwood to be away when required by the BBC. Ward lost her appeal to the club, and is now proceeding to an employment tribunal.

Meanwhile on the pitch, Uwe Rosler's Leeds currently sit in tenth position in the Sky Bet Championship and remain unbeaten, having one once and drawn four times.
