After a blistering start to the season, Norwich sat top of the pile in the Championship in mid-October, but a terrible run of results lately has seen them slide down the table and into seventh position.

The Canaries were six league games without a win and had suffered five losses in a row before a 5-0 demolition of Brentford this weekend put them back on track.

Alex Neil's future has come under some scrutiny of late given the terrible run Norwich have been on, but the Canaries hierarchy have decided to give him their backing, in the hope that he is the man to guide them to an immediate return to the to flight.

There is no doubt Neil will be looking to strengthen his squad and try and reinstate Norwich into the Championship's top six.

With some extra quality in the squad, Norwich definitely have the potential to go all they way this season.

Here, I will look at 3 players who Neil should make sure the owners sign in January...

David Nugent

Nugent has fallen out of favour this season at Middlesbrough after helping fire them to the top flight last season.

The former England international has plenty Championship experience and has scored a hat full of goals at this level.

His firepower upfront could be the difference for Norwich this season.

The Canaries currently have Nelson Oliveira and Cameron Jerome playing up front but neither of them are particularly clinical goalscorers, whereas Nugent almost guarantees goals in the Championship.

He is one of few strikers who just has a knack of being in the right place at the right time.

Luke Freeman

Freeman has impressed at Bristol City for the last couple of seasons now, so a move to a promotion contender would certainly make sense.

Freeman is the driving force in the middle of the park for Bristol City and his creativeness is something that could be of huge benefit for Norwich.

Freeman is a box-to-box midfielder who has the ability to unlock defences in the final third.

He would slot well into the Norwich midfield and provide them with another creative option going forward.

Freeman isn't shy of putting his foot in either, making him one of most well rounded midfielders in the league.

Omar Bogle

Bogle has been scoring goals for fun in League Two this season and he has already been touted for a move to the Championship.

Norwich should attempt to poach him to add to their fire power up front.

Bogle is clinical in front of goal and if you can provide him with chances, he will score goals.

As of yet, he hasn't played at a higher level than League Two, but given the success of Jamie Vardy and Andre Gray, who have had a similar rise to fame as Bogle, he is definitely a risk worth taking.
