Neil Harris has said that Cardiff's upcoming fourth round replay with Reading will be a "great occasion" as the Bluebirds meet the Royals for the third time in the space of ten days this Tuesday.

The two sides played out a 1-1 draw on Friday night at the Cardiff City Stadium - the Bluebirds' third stalemate in four games.

They will meet again - this time for a place in the FA Cup fifth round, where either team will face Sheffield United at home on the 5th March.

Ahead of the big game, Bleubirds boss Neil Harris acknowledged the importance of the upcoming cup tie and the competition as a whole.

"We want to be at home to Sheffield United in the Fifth Round, a team in the top six in the Premier League at the moment. We’ll have to put in a very strong performance against Reading on Tuesday evening to be there," he told the club's official website.

“The FA Cup is a competition with great history and one which I and this Football Club have been fond of. Winning games and getting through builds momentum and belief within the group.”

QUIZ: Can you guess what these 14 ex-Cardiff men are up to now?

Cardiff's three new signings - Brad Smith, Dion Sanderson and Albert Adomah - will all be unavailable for the clash as they were not Cardiff players at the time of the original fixture.

Harris also had his say on coming up against Reading yet again, and he is aware that Tuesday night's fixture may differ from previous ones due to the circumstances.

“I’m sure Tuesday’s game will be completely different to the last two. We have to make sure again that we’re as good as we can be on the evening and give ourselves a real opportunity to progress to the Fifth Round.”

The Verdict

With the last two meetings between the two sides being draws, both Cardiff and Reading will want to do all they can to get the job done in 90 minutes - or face extra time and potentially a penalty shootout.

The Bluebirds have not won against Reading since 2014 - a sequence consisting of eight games. Neil Harris's men will have a tough job on their hands if they want to progress.

Fatigue may also play a factor, as it will be both side's second game in the space of five days - with another on the horizon this coming weekend.
