Millwall manager Neil Harris says he is "proud" of his players' performance in the Lions' 2-0 defeat to West Brom at the weekend, reports Football London.

Harris' men remain in the relegation zone after goals from Dwight Gayle and Kieran Gibbs succumbed to their fifth defeat in six league games; the Lions have won just once this season and sit 22nd in the Championship table.

But Harris has said that he is "proud" of his side's performance, and said that the Lions "were so good at times in the first-half".

"First and foremost, I am disappointed with the result, of course - I am proud of the performance and I've just said to the players that when we are so good, as we were at times in the first-half, the use of the ball was good".

"We have to be clinical and we had three good chances to score at the other end - when things are going for, it really kicks you when you're down", Harris added.

"It's a great save from Ben [Amos],  and the ball, as we are about to head it, clips the underside of the bar and goes to Dwight Gayle's foot - you can't do anything about those moments, that's the way it is".

Millwall made a run for the playoffs last season but have so far struggled this term and sit within the relegation places ahead of their next fixture against Sheffield United.
