Millwall head to Birmingham this afternoon looking to extend their five-game unbeaten run in the league in what has been a fine first season back in the Championship.

Many observers felt the Lions would struggle this season however Neil Harris’ men have been superb for large parts of the campaign, with their form at The Den the key reason behind their success.

Summer signings like Jed Wallace and George Saville have played a crucial role for the Londoners and Harris strengthened again last month with Ben Marshall and Tim Cahill among those to join.

It leaves the Lions with a stronger looking squad, although new faces in the summer will be required if they are to enjoy another successful campaign.

However, that will also mean players have to leave and here we look at two players who could be offloaded.

The Northern Irish international has been a useful squad player but the arrival of Marshall will restrict the minutes for Ferguson.

One criticism of the Lions is that they can often be too predictable when going forward and new players were needed to solve that.

Ferguson doesn’t help in that sense as he is very one-footed and doesn’t the pace or skills to beat his full-back.

A move in the summer would suit all involved and allow the 26-year old to get regular games elsewhere.

Another who has struggled for regular games this season is striker Tom Elliott and to be honest when Lee Gregory and Steve Morison are available he is never going to play.

Tim Cahill’s arrival has pushed him further down the pecking order whilst Aidan O’Brien and Fred Onyedima offer quicker forward options for Harris.

Therefore, it’s hard to see a future for Elliott at The Den and three goals in 17 games prove he has found it difficult since making the move up a division from Wimbledon.

As well as that, a new striker is sure to be a priority for Harris in the summer so Elliott will have to leave.
