Millwall will be hoping to begin 2019 as they left 2018, on the back of a very convincing run of form.

The Lions picked up invaluable home wins against relegation rivals Reading and promotion contenders Nottingham Forest to put themselves three points clear of the relegation zone.

The large part of this season has been bitterly disappointing for Neil Harris' men - the Lions, despite nearly finishing in a play-off place last term, have been terrible this season, losing twelve out of twenty-five games in the Championship.

The January transfer window is going to be hugely important in the Lions' hopes of staying in the division this season - Harris will have to clear the deadwood and bring in fresh, new faces that will make them a better unit.

Here, we take a look at two players that Harris needs to axe in the next couple of weeks...

Martin has been third-choice to the likes of Jordan Archer and Ben Amos this season, but to free up some wages to spend on another position, it would probably be best for both parties if he was to leave in January.

The 32-year old is a vastly experienced goalkeeper, but is very unlikely to feature any more this season having fallen so much down the pecking order.

With his deal set to expire in January, it's about time that Millwall let go of Karacan.

Harris has reportedly had talks with the Turkish midfielder, stating that he wants to "settle down", but having started made just five appearances for the Lions all season, should that be with Millwall?

The 29-year old is a hugely experienced player who is likely to be on high wages, and again, Harris should let go of the midfielder to spend on an urgent position.
