Millwall manager Neil Harris has revealed that Jiri Skalak is set to miss the club's clash with Huddersfield Town at the weekend due to a foot injury (via News at Den).

The winger, who joined the Lions in 2018 from Brighton & Hove Albion, was forced off with a knock during his side's 4-0 defeat to Fulham in August and hasn't featured since.

In Skalak's absence, Millwall have experienced somewhat of a slump in the Championship.

After being held to back-to-back draws by Middlesbrough and Hull City, the Lions suffered defeat to Blackburn Rovers earlier this month before losing 2-1 to Queens Park Rangers at The Den last weekend.

With Harris looking to get the club's season back on track on Saturday against Huddersfield, he would have been hoping to have Skalak available.

However, the 42-year-old will have to cope without the Czech Republic international at the John Smith's Stadium.

Speaking to News at Den about Skalak's injury, Harris said: "It's still not settling.

"He's been re-scanned and he's seeing the specialist again this week just to make sure everything is covered.

"The information that came to me after Fulham was that it was going to be a couple of weeks.

"We're four weeks down the line and Jiri is still not back on the training pitch fully with the squad.

"There's frustration in that.

"The good news is nothing's changed, there's no long-term injury.

"With Jiri it's just about waiting for the foot to heal.

The Millwall boss later added: "We've got to be patient with Jiri and he also has to make sure he pushes himself to the maximum he can within those pain limits."

The Verdict

When you consider that Skalak illustrated some real signs of promise during the opening weeks of the season, this latest update is unquestionably a blow for Millwall.

With the winger unavailable for this weekend's clash with Huddersfield, Harris may have to turn to the likes of Jed Wallace and Jon Dadi Bodvarsson for inspiration.

If this particular duo can deliver the goods against the Terriers, Millwall could edge closer to top-half of the Championship standings depending on results elsewhere.
