Cardiff manager Neil Harris has shut down rumours about any potential departure for striker Robert Glatzel.

German Bundesliga side Werder Bremen had been linked with the forward which could be a major loss for the Bluebirds heading into an important few months in the season.

Glatzel hasn't quite performed as he'd have liked since his move to the Welsh capital in the summer. The forward has scored just four times in the league and has missed some guilt-edge chances throughout the campaign.

Cardiff don't have too many options in terms of strikers in the squad, so will be hoping to keep Glatzel ahead of the last week of the transfer window.

Harris has expressed his want for him to stay at the club and has confirmed that there is nothing in any of the reports stating that the 26-year-old is going to leave Cardiff.

Speaking to Wales Online, Harris said: "I don't want him to leave and there's nothing in those reports."

The Verdict

Harris clearly wants him to stay and has made it clear that the player is part of his plans for the future months of the season.

Cardiff have a need for more goals in their Championship games, and once again showed their lack of firepower in the FA Cup game with Reading on the weekend.

Glatzel is a player that needs to show improvement in front of goal and give Cardiff fans hope that he can be the striker to guide them back to the Premier League.

If Cardiff carry on keeping close to the play-offs then they'll hope that one good goal-scoring run from Glatzel could propel them into the top six and give them a chance of Premier League football.
