Neil Harris has acknowledged the input of Norwich City winger Ben Marshall at the Den last season, amid reports he could be allowed to leave Carrow Road on loan.

Marshall spent the latter part of the previous campaign playing for Harris' Lions, but when it came ot a permanent move he was enticed to Norfolk instead of East London.

His game time has been limited and a recent report suggested he could be primed for a loan move in search of first team football. That's prompted Harris to pay tribute to his input last season, but he's refused to be drawn on speculation that they could be one of the teams in the frame for the former Wolves man.

“Ben was fantastic for us last season. He brought a wealth of Championship experience and quality as well to the squad – plus personality in the changing room." he told London News Online.

“He is a player we tried to sign in the summer but couldn’t get because Norwich have got bigger finances. He is a player and person I admire."

He then admitted that the problems he faced with his current squad were not so much going forward, but in stopping the opposition doing the same.

"I think at the moment that scoring goals and creating chances is not a problem – that is keeping the ball out of the net at the other end."

Millwall are currently third from bottom in the Championship, level on points with reading who are just outside the bottom three.

The Verdict

I wouldn't be too surprised if Marshall did appear at Millwall this January. Harris is clearly a fan of the player and their resurgence last season seemed to coincide with him joining the club.

Furthermore, what Millwall do well is build a team, players who are better together and Marshall was a big part of that, wherever he stands on the pitch.
