Millwall manager Neil Harris has revealed that Jon Dadi Bodvarsson and Jason McCarthy are both facing a race to be ready for the club's clash with Luton Town on Wednesday.

The Lions will be looking to get back to winning ways against the Hatters following what has been a dismal run of form in recent weeks.

Since securing a 1-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday on August 17th, Millwall have only managed to pick up three points from a possible eighteen on offer.

Although the Lions illustrated a great deal of character in their most recent outing against Huddersfield Town following Shane Ferguson's red card, they slipped down to 18th in the Championship standings as a result of their 1-1 draw.

Whilst the 2019/20 season is still very much in its infancy, the Lions will be wanting to avoid the possibility of being dragged into a potential relegation battle.

Therefore, Harris will be aiming to alleviate any fears that their supporters may be having by leading his side to a positive result on Wednesday.

However, the 42-year-old confirmed that both Bodvarsson and McCarthy are doubts for the clash having missed Saturday's meeting with Huddersfield.

Speaking to London News Online, Harris said: "Jason McCarthy has got a bruised toe, we had a really tough week.

"Some of the players are carrying knocks today that the physios and the doctors have done great to get them out there."

The Millwall boss later added: "Jon Dadi [Bodvarsson] has been ill, like I said we've had quite a few knocks and illlnesses at one stage we were only going to bring 15 or 16 players [to Huddersfield] with the young lad [Tyler Burey] so the lads have stepped up and made decision in the morning that they were good to travel.

"You want that from players but Jon is really struggling.

"We will have to see how he goes ahead of Wednesday."

The Verdict

When you consider that Millwall are on a run of seven games without a win in all competitions, it is is clear that they need to step up their performance levels.

Yet with McCarthy and Bodvarsson currently sidelined due to their respective issues, the Lions may have to look elsewhere for inspiration at Kenilworth Road.

Providing that they can secure victory on Wednesday, Millwall could close the gap between them and the top-half of the Championship standings.
