Cardiff City goalkeeper Neil Etheridge has shared an update as the squad commenced their pre-season training with his future still yet to be decided.

The Philippines international has been the subject of a fair bit of transfer interest this summer with both Aston Villa and Liverpool chasing his signature following an impressive campaign in the Premier League, according to Wales Online.

But on Wednesday

/BzLEVsfFGtc/?igshid=ipru9dz1tsdx">he shared an Instagram post of himself at the club's training ground in his training gear ahead of the Championship season.

Writing alongside the post he simply said, "Back to training, day 1" along with a smiley face emoji.

Neil Warnock's side suffered an immediate relegation back to the second-tier following their impressive promotion-winning campaign two seasons ago that saw them finish second to Wolves.

Just two points separated themselves and Brighton and Hove Albion come the end of the season with Etheridge becoming one of their stand-out performers.

He played in all 38 of their top-flight matches, keeping ten clean sheets in the process and only West Ham's Lukasz Fabianski made more more saves in the league.

The verdict

This may bring back a bit of hope to Cardiff fans but I would not get too excited if I were them.

Neil Etheridge is clearly a professional, as this post suggests, but he proved himself to be Premier League quality and there will be interest in him.

The post may indicate that their is no offer on the table and that for now the 29-year-old is happy where he is, but things can change very quickly in football and often do.
