Cardiff City goalkeeper Neil Etheridge has posted an update on social media, as the team continue their preparations for the new season.

The 29-year-old was an important player for Cardiff last season and kept ten clean sheets in the Premier League, although he was unable to save them from relegation.

The Cardiff players returned to the club last week for the start of pre-season training, as they began their preparations for life back in the Championship.

Etheridge has posted two photos from pre-season training on his personal

/">Instagram account and added a message to Cardiff fans saying: "Another good, hard full weeks training in the bank! Working hard pays off!"

Etheridge has been linked with a move away from Cardiff this summer and it was reported last month that Aston Villa have already had a bid for the goalkeeper rejected.

The Verdict

Etheridge was one of the standout players for Cardiff in the Premier League last season, so it's perhaps not that surprising that he's attracted interest from rival clubs.

The goalkeeper kept 19 clean sheets the last time Cardiff were in the Championship and he could have another important role to play for the Bluebirds next season.

Cardiff fans will be desperate for him to stay at the club this summer and this latest update suggests that he is very happy at the club at the moment.

That's not to say that he wouldn't be open to the possibility of leaving Cardiff this summer though, should Aston Villa or another Premier League side make an offer for him.
