Wigan Athletic youngster Joe Gelhardt scored in England u18’s 3-2 win against Austria.

The 17-year-old forward is very highly-rated at the Latics, and is on the verge of breaking into the starting XI.

Gelhardt did score his first goal for Latics at Hull City last month, coming off the bench to rescue a 2-2 draw with a brilliant individual strike, which has got the club's fanbase purring.

Wigan team mate Jensen Weir also started for England on Wednesday - a central midfielder that is destined for big things as well. Both Weir and Gelhardt featured heavily for the first-team in pre-season, and it won’t be long before they are playing regularly in the league.

With fans eager to see Gelhardt start at the DW Stadium, they will of been delighted to watch him score for England.
