Luton Town were one of the favourites for promotion before the season began, and now manager Nathan Jones’ men are really beginning to assert their dominance on the league.
Victory last weekend at Accrington Stanley elevated the Hatters into the top three and the prized automatic promotion places, but when Stevenage come to Kenilworth Road on Saturday, Jones will have an eye on closing the gap between his side and leader Exeter City.
The Grecians currently lie four points ahead of the Bedfordshire based club, and although automatic promotion will be the priority for all associated with the club this season, the title is certainly within reach.
Another three points on Saturday which continue Luton’s fine form in the league, which has seen them lose just once in their last ten matches.
Jones is likely to continue with the same 4-4-2 formation that saw his side romped to a comfortable victory over Stanley, but changes could be made ahead of a tough build-up of fixtures.
One man who perhaps deserves a chance to prove himself is midfielder Lawson D’Ath, and Jones should consider giving the former Reading academy star the start against Stevenage on Saturday.
D’Ath linked up with the Hatters in January from League One side Northampton Town, but has struggled to really establish himself in the starting XI at the club.
A solid performance from the bench against Accrington, Jones may consider rotating his squad to allow for recuperation and to give others a shot, and D’Ath could be in line for a start.
The 24-year-old is undoubtedly a talented player, and a solid run of first team games is exactly what he needs to really get going.
A dominating midfielder capable of chipping in with the odd goal here and there, the player has the ability to become an important member of this Luton Town squad, and his return to form could begin with a solid display against seventh place Stevenage this weekend.
Luton fans, does D’Ath deserve to be given a chance this weekend? Have your say below…
