A number of Preston North End supporters have reacted to the latest comments from Alex Neil following the Lilywhites’ 2-0 defeat away against Middlesbrough on Tuesday.

Preston went into the game under pressure to deliver a reaction to the 1-0 defeat they suffered at bottom of the table Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday. However, any real hopes they had of getting anything from the game, after falling behind, were ended when Alan Browne was controversially sent off after 36 minutes following a clash with Middlesbrough’s Sam Morsy.

It was a decision that Neil was furious with when speaking to the media. He suggested that such kind of things going against them sums up the current situation for the Lilywhites. While he also bemoaned the bad luck of Jordan Storey’s unfortunate own goal which had Preston trailing inside 22 minutes after they had started the match the better team.

He said: “It’s clear their player forearm-smashes Alan in the back of the head, he then swings his arm again and hits him a second time, and Alan naturally reacts because it’s meant.

“[Morsy] He’s right in front of him, it’s not as if he’s went like that [gestures arm] and put it across, he’s right in front of him and he’s came off the back of him. I just think for us at the moment, it sums things up. The fact that our player gets sent off in that incident, it beggars belief for me, and that’s the most disappointing thing for me.

“Then we slice the ball into the back of our own net and I honestly don’t even what to say about that. It’s a mistake. At the moment, it’s things like that that are continually coming into the game.”

Many Preston fans have been left frustrated by these latest comments and whilst they might agree with him on the incidents he has referred to from the game against Middlesbrough they were suggesting that it does not explain why they are on such a bad run of form at the moment.
