A number of Derby County supporters have bemoaned the performance of defender Andre Wisdom following the Rams’ 2-2 draw at home to promotion-chasing Brentford on Tuesday night.

Wayne Rooney’s side headed into the game aiming to end a four-match winless run in the Championship, with his side having failed to score in any of those four matches either. However, that was always going to be tough against a Brentford side who had won three of their previous four and are well in the race for automatic promotion.

Things started badly in the first half for Derby with the Rams 2-0 down at the break, before some good tactical changes from Rooney got them back in the game and allowed them to comeback and pick up a point. One player who struggled in the first half, in particular, was Wisdom, with the defender having made too many errors and switched off on too many occasions in the first half.

Overall, Wisdom failed to make a single tackle, although he did make two interceptions and three clearances and he also gave the ball away 14 times throughout his 86 minutes on the field (Sofascore). It was a difficult evening for him but he did still keep going and somewhat turned his performance around in the second 45 minutes which should be credited.

Many Derby fans were keen to suggest that he might need replacing in the starting line-up and that he makes too many mistakes at times to justify being a constant in the team.
